The Alluvion in Traverse City - Interior Louvered Trim

The Alluvion in Traverse City - Interior Louvered Trim

I worked with designer and craftsman, Chad Kirchner, to make and install the interior trim for The Alluvion performance venue in Traverse City, Michigan. The louvered wall is held in place with precision CNC-routed 1” acrylic so that each slat is mounted at a slight rotation from the ones on either side of it. The clear acrylic has LED lights mounted to it for performance lighting effects.

This arch is made from locally-sourced white oak and the joints are all timber frame mortise and tenon, cut at a 60 degree angle. The height under the arch is 84”. This piece weighs approximately 350lbs and was made with a mounting base that ties in with ground anchor stakes to keep it safely attached to the ground. The “feet” are 4 feet long so this arch is very, very stable. The client wanted to be able to use this in her garden after the wedding.
