Old closet…NEW closet, plus added storage. These were fun because of a narrow stair, so I had to build a bunch of this in place. Fun to break out my mad drywall skills again. I swore I’d never do drywall again. Reminder: Old buildings d
Here are some eastern white cedar shakes I added to highlight a special outdoor “room” that used to be white vinyl. These shakes were leftovers from a house in Sault Ste Marie where decades ago, the owners applied them to their home in th
Butcher block birch countertops…. These seem like such a great idea at the start, but the reality is that keeping them nice looking is a lot of work and most busy cooks (busy families) can’t stay on top of it. These were cracking and gro
Been a while since I posted. I’ve been working, I swear! Here’s a walnut board for a scientist. Hexagons are definitely my thing this year.

Picking walnut boards for a simple mantle: There will be one show face for the front. This is what you’ll see when roasting marshmallows.

There’s one face for the top. This is where you’d set your pictures, plates and brick-a-brac
Small kitchen renovation with some really cool ledge-stone slate for a backsplash. The floating shelves were made from the off-cuts of the countertop material. This situation is the best case for the IKEA cabinetry: locked between two walls, so I c
20 years ago, this week, I started my thru-hike of the Appalachian Trail in Georgia. I finished in Maine almost exactly 6 months later. I couldn’t have completed it without a lot of love and help from family and friends. It changed me and my li
Bathroom makeover with a little bit of custom tile work, new paint and trim…I liked working with the “pebble-mesh” but ran short and had to do a few custom slate landings on either side of the countertop. Turned out pretty cool.
I’m doin’ it.

Life moves fast, but not for me tonight. Do less once in a while.
