The Bookend tote’s defining characteristic is one plumb and one outward-tilted end, construction in primarily Michigan hardwoods and a baby-soft waxed finish. All Bookend totes are one-of-a-kind and are intended to be used indoors like fine furniture.
This tote is made from two boards of Michigan cherry and grain on the ends and bottoms is continuous from one tote to the other. The ends have arched feet and the bottom is set up slightly so the tote sits only on the ends.
The sides of both totes are continuous grain from end to end and book-matched side to side from a singular and gorgeous plank. The top edges of the sides are dramatically curved and faceted to counterbalance the handle’s shape.
The ends tops are at different heights and swoop up to the handle which is laminated and shaped white oak and wrapped with red leather using waxed gold thread and held in with poplar pegs. The sides are embellished with galvanized cut nails manufactured on machines built in the 19th century.
Single tote dimension 23 × 7 × 13.5”
Both totes in a line 46 × 7 × 13.5”
